Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) and the Ministry of Education (MOE) jointly held the National Savings Day (NSD) 2024 Financial Awareness Roadshow in Tutong on Thursday, 20 Zulhijjah 1445 corresponding to 27 June 2024.
The roadshow, held at the Tutong Sixth Form Centre, received approximately 390 Years 3 to 5 students from both government and private primary schools under the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Religious Affairs across the Tutong district.
This event, marking the fourth roadshow held in conjunction with the national celebration, was organised in collaboration with the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), Tabung Amanah Pekerja (TAP), Cyber Security Brunei (CSB), Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), and Baiduri Bank. Exhibitors engaged students in a variety of activities designed to introduce important financial topics, including savings, takaful and insurance, retirement planning, and financial consumer protection.
Attending as the guest of honour was Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Danial@Tekpin bin Ya’akub, Penghulu of Mukim Ukong. Senior officers from the MOE and BDCB were also in attendance to demonstrate their support for the financial literacy event.
The final roadshow for NSD 2024, which is aimed for Year 3 to Year 5 primary school students, will be held at the Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre on 3 July 2024. Following this, a Financial Fun Fair will also be held in conjunction with NSD 2024, in August 2024 at the Jerudong Park Playground, which offers a range of family-friendly financial activities suitable for all ages.
